We sing Your Praise
This past Monday, April
26, we celebrated
World Day of Prayer for
Vocations.
Religious life is a
vocation, a calling, to seek
God and to serve other
people in love.
It is still a viable
vocation in our Church today.
One that is necessary
today perhaps more than
ever before. At least every age has its own needs.
St. Benedict tells us to
“prefer nothing to the work
of God”. The work of God is what St. Benedict calls
the Liturgy of the
Hours. We gather in community
to pray the Liturgy of the
Hours daily.
True to our charism, we
engage in works of hospitality,
stewardship, spirituality,
respect for life, care for the
earth, and racial
equality. We life in community and care
for each other.
Many years ago, Sr.
Colleen Winston, O.S.B., wrote a song
to accompany our slide
presentation showing sisters engaged
in ministry. Some of the words of the song as I remember
it
were “We celebrate your
love O God and join with ages
past to tell the story of
your love and glorify Your name. You
are my God, I sing your
praise, I bless your name forever”.
For all who have gone before us, we say “thank you”! For
those yet to come, we say
“welcome”!
Sister Barbara Woeste, OSB
I join my prayer to yours in envisioning a future filled with dedicated religious women. Thank you for your thoughts, Sr Barbara
ReplyDeleteDear Sister, thank you for these good words. Every age has its needs. We certainly live in a changing world. I started learning Portuguese, thinking of the Brazilian-Japanese in Japan, and hoping to make friends somehow, remembering the early contact between Japan and Portugal producing the Japanese word “pan” and the first Japanese-Portuguese dictionary. Portuguese is intriguing. It evolved from Latin on the western limit of Europe. Why does it sound so different to Spanish? Why are so many words different to Latin. I found the word for color in Portuguese. Cor. Astonishing how all the other European languages remain similar to the Latin word color. Cor of course is the usual word for heart. Coeur, cuore, corazon. There is something special about the way Portuguese evolved. Was there more Celtic influence there? Languages do change. They evolve. Only the core words remain the same. The Hebrew word for heart Leb and the Japanese word Kokoro have similar meanings — and the Greek and Latin refer less to thought and more to feeling. Love the Lord your God with all your heart — if you read it in Hebrew or Greek it will mean something different. I looked through the YouTube window at São Paulo. My goodness. It looks like New York. Vocations. How can we defend our love for one another and build up networks to share this feeling? Happy Easter OSB God bless you always amen
ReplyDeleteThank you for these wonderful essays. What a wonderful world.it would be if we all preferred nothing to the work of God. I'll be thinking and praying about that all day.
ReplyDeleteCatholic must know Dogma > Ripped from your soul.
ReplyDeleteIf you're at all interested in knowing ... the Catholic Dogma ... that we *must believe* to
get to Heaven, and which you have *never* seen ...
I list it on my website > > www.Gods-Catholic-Dogma.com
And no ... the anti-Christ vatican-2 heretic cult (founded in 1965) is not the Catholic Church (founded in 33 A.D.).
There are over 200 heresies against Catholic Dogma ... in the "vatican-2 council" documents ...50 listed on Section 12 (followed by Catholic corections) > www.Gods-Catholic-Dogma.com/section_12.html
Being outside ... the Catholic Church in any heresy ... leaves one with no chance of getting to Heaven.
Physical participation in a heretic cult (vatican-2, lutheran, evangelical, etc) ... automatically excommunicates you from the Catholic Church (that is, Christianity) > www.Gods-Catholic-Dogma.com/section_13.2.2.html
Mandatory ... Abjuration of heresy to enter the Catholic Church > www.Gods-Catholic-Dogma.com/section_40.html
Dogma that one must Abjure to leave the vatican-2 heretic cult and enter the Catholic Church > www.Gods-Catholic-Dogma.com/section_40.1.html
The BIBLE says ... 15 TIMES ... it is not the authority on Faith,
the BIBLE says the Church in it's Dogma and Doctrine ... is the authority on Faith and the definition of the Catholic Faith ... www.Gods-Catholic-Dogma.com/section_6.html
The Catholic God knows ... what we think and believe ...
Catholic writing of Romans 1:21 >
"They ... became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened."
Catholic Faith (pre-fulfillment) writing of Deuteronomy 31:21 >
"For I know their thoughts, and what they are about to do this day."
Catholic Faith (pre-fulfillment) writing of Job 21:27 >
"Surely I know your thoughts, and your unjust judgments against Me."
